Dark Spell
Seed Of Eleanor
I originally started writing this in 1999, played it a few times (before revising it) in my all girl band in early 2000s, then FINALLY took it off the back burner this year and finished it!

Wrote and recorded this last night and finished today (2/28/26). May revise later..
I started the keyboard drums and keyboard effects last Saturday (10/25/25) and finished the rest today (11/1/25). You may notice, very little editing was done. I let this one be more raw than the others and the voices were improvised and not the best they could be, but I feel they fit well for this song. I was watching the film Drive, at the time of recording. I found myself having my own adventure, while the song and lyrics came to me. The light fun feeling, kind of took a turn with the lyrics at the end. ;) I was feeling Gorillaz-esque as I was creating it as well, but wasn't intentionally trying to create something they'd do, just kind of crept up on me really. To sum up, I wanted it to sound raw, vulnerable, mentally unstable and imperfect, to depict how honest I wanted it to feel.
I wrote this song after reading Wuthering Heights in 2006. I was so moved by it, the music came easily to me. I recorded it for my Musings album in 2008, then revised it in 2025.
I decided to put an album together, but wasn't sure which songs would be on here, initially. I have three new songs that came together pretty quickly ( Thinking Thoughts And Wishing Dreams-I just wrote and finished today 6/9/25, I Have Walls- I wrote at the end of March 2025 and finished it within less than a week, then An Unremembered Time-I started and finished in May 2025). The other songs: Reveal Yourself (2011), Ready To Change (1998-ish), Sweet Girl (2010) and Water (2010) have been on the back burner for 10 years plus! I have many other songs i'm working on, but I had to work on the songs I felt pulled toward, and the ones that aren't complete, will have their time. Now that this album is done, I will be concentrating on creating some music videos, covers of other artist's songs, then brainstorming the next album....I'll be fitting in meal times, naps and bathroom breaks in between. ;)
I wrote this little number in it's entirety, on 3/22/25 and finished mixing and recording it 3/26/25. When writing the lyrics, I was reflecting on different relationships throughout my life, realizing I have emotional walls (which I already knew) due to past hurts; I think everyone does to a certain degree. I think the message is very relatable to a wide audience. The very beginning of writing the song started with just the drum beat, then everything else fell into place.
I initially had this idea in my head as an Acapella piece, when I first wrote it in 2011 (it's been revised since the first recording, but finished this one today 4/5/25), but the instruments came into my head a bit after, so I had to include them. It was inspired by the not so highly rated film Xanadu. Loved the idea of the film and the music, even if it was a bit corny.
